Welcome to Mittineague Elementary School. Our staff is committed to create the best, most effective learning environment, by establishing a climate in which the school, parents and community work together emphasizing academic excellence, and helping our students to develop a sense of responsibility and respect; in order to develop a better understanding of themselves and others so they can reach their maximum potential.
This year at Mittineague, we will continue to encourage all children to embrace the core values of “respecting themselves, others, learning and property” in their daily choices and interactions. Our theme for the 2012-2013 school year is:
“Be the change you want to see in the world!”
We hope that by embracing the following tenets of thinking we can make a positive difference both inside and outside of our school.
Be there ~ for each other by staying focused on what we are doing and how we are doing it. The more focused we are, the more we accomplish! Success means doing our best, being our best and feeling proud of our efforts.
Choose your attitude~ good and bad things happen every day; we choose how we respond to those things. Do what you can to stay positive!
Make their day~ a kind word or gesture can “make someone’s day”. Make it your mission to acknowledge others…. And always remember to “THINK” (T~ Is it true?, H~ Is it helpful?, I~ Is it inspiring, N~ Is it necessary, and K~ Is is kind) before you speak.
Play~ we all know that learning is more fun when we throw ourselves into it and… when everyone is engaged; everything is more exciting! The smartest people I know “play” with words, or numbers, or ideas….. They get lost in the discovery of learning more…
Mittineague School fosters an environment that promotes communication and learning. We allow students the freedom to wonder, to ask, to explore and to imagine and then we challenge them to use their unique and special talents to follow that inquiry with perseverance, research, problem solving, collaboration, and technology.
We look forward to an exciting new school year!!
